I still find myself overcome with emotion, my eyes welling up with tears as the presence of the Lord floods my soul with gratitude. His goodness has carried me through a journey I never expected—one filled with both trauma and miraculous healing. Even now, two years after God’s divine intervention in my body, I feel the weight of it all when I recount my testimony. Yet, through the shock and lingering emotions, I see the undeniable faithfulness of God.
When Trauma Meets Testimony
It’s overwhelming to think about how differently my story could have ended. What could have shaken my world and broken me instead became a testimony of God’s power. If I had never faced the test, I wouldn’t have the testimony. And without the testimony, I wouldn’t have been able to write Healed at Last—a book I never expected to begin the way it did, yet one that God has used to change lives.
So many have written to me, sharing how my story of healing has strengthened their faith. You can view some reviews here on Amazon to see how the book in a few short days impacted people. Whether they took the medical route or stood in faith for supernatural healing, God has been present, working in their lives. He is the Healer, and He moves in ways beyond our understanding (Isaiah 53:5).
The Day That Changed Everything
It started as a routine test—my first mammogram at age 55. A simple scan to confirm that all was well. A close friend had recently gone through it and assured me it was no big deal. A family member was battling cancer, and I wanted to be proactive. But nothing could have prepared me for what happened next.
I was pulled into a small, private room and told the news no one wants to hear. There was no preparation, no warning. The shock was immediate. I drove myself to what I believed was a routine follow-up, only to find myself at a cancer center without fully understanding why.
The emotions still surface every time I share this part of my journey. I was alone. My husband hadn’t come with me because we had no reason to suspect anything was wrong. I was assured that being called back for further scans was normal for first-time mammograms. But sitting there, receiving unexpected news, I felt emotionally paralyzed.
Processing the Pain and Finding Peace
Fear could have consumed me, but strangely, it didn’t. In the past, fear had gripped me in difficult moments, yet this time, I felt something different—perhaps the sheer weight of shock, or maybe it was God’s hand already at work. Looking back, I realize that while I still have moments of processing the trauma, I have also found deep peace in His presence.
- The Holy Spirit comforts in the moments of uncertainty (John 14:26).
- God’s perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18).
- He turns what the enemy meant for harm into good (Genesis 50:20).
A Call to Healing and Hope
Maybe you’ve experienced trauma, a diagnosis, or a moment that shook your world. Maybe you’re still processing, still trying to heal. I want to encourage you—God is with you. Whether healing comes instantaneously or through a process, His promise remains: By His stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5).
If you’re struggling with trauma or fear, here are a few things I’ve learned along the way:
- Yield to the Holy Spirit. Let Him work through your pain, bringing comfort and peace. My book, podcast and TV show are all dedicated to teaching you how to yield and submit to the Holy Spirit.
- Speak life over your situation. Declare healing scriptures and hold on to His promises. There is power in speaking life and praying audibly. (See my book, SPEAK OUT!)
- Find community. Surround yourself with faith-filled people who will stand with you in prayer.
- Keep believing. Even if the process takes time, God is faithful to complete His work in you (Philippians 1:6).
