Have you ever told fear you aren’t going to participate?
I was in bondage to fear for years. It was my stronghold. Fear of medical ailments, finances, water, bridges, heights and more. Fear still tries to grip me occasionally. When you’ve had a strongman the enemy will use what he knows he can torment you with to try and pull you into bondage again. But, this time I’m not participating and you don’t have to either.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Prov. 18:21). Sometimes, we need to speak life over ourselves. We need to hear our faith being released. My friend, Tracy, would say to herself when the enemy tried to attack her mind, “Shut up devil, I’m getting a new thought.” And, that is exactly what she would do, dismiss the thought instead of entertaining it.
Unfortunately, I think for most of us entertaining it has become a habit. Not everything is a spirit of fear, a demonic issue that needs to be dealt with. But, now that we have been delivered we need to get disciplined at controlling our thoughts. We need to truly press through to our breakthrough.
We sit and think and rot and stink instead of capturing the thought and throwing it out of our mind. It takes us a bit to snap out of us and sometimes realize we are in self-pity, defeat or have been attacked again by an evil spirit. Constant prayer and self-deliverance can lead us to freedom. Knowing how the enemy works and what he wants to establish in your life, which strongholds he wants to send forth and how he wants to wreak havoc and send demise are crucial in walking out your freedom. Developing mind techniques and exercises to dismiss negative tormenting thoughts is a good practice.
The devil wants to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). But Jesus, has come to give you abundant life. It is time we begin to live that abundant life now by taking every thought captive (2 Cor 10:3-5) and dismissing it when it doesn’t line up with the word of God.
