Does God Hear Me When I Pray?

June 20, 2023

The short answer is, yes, He does hear me. But this hasn’t always been my understanding in the past.

Because of life circumstances when people I cared about and who were an important part of my life, didn’t really listen to me or heard only part of what I said, I related that to my Heavenly Father. My mentor had a word of knowledge one day and told me that I feel unheard. Bam, was that an eye opener for me. I immediately thought of one instance I had been unable to understand the why of my reaction. It was such an unusual reaction for that situation. With this new revelation, I had a deeper understanding of my response to it. I now use this knowledge to understand my feelings or to dissect my reactions or even to know how I should respond.

I still, at times, need to remind myself the truth of God’s word when doubt arises. I Peter 3:12 says, For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are open to their prayer. Also, it helps me to look back and remember times when God showed up with answered prayers. One thing is that I had been selfish thinking my desired answer was the way things should be. But God knew what answer was perfect. My mentor had a prophetic word for me in December of 2021 that God was saying to me, I hear every word you pray. Sometimes you don’t believe that, but I do; I hear every word you pray. That word is for everyone. In His love, he gave it specifically to me because He knew I had been struggling. Thank you, Father.

Take encouragement. Heavenly Father, Creator of the universe, loves you and hears you. At times, His answer is yes. Other times it’s no and sometimes it is wait. All the time, His answer is, I love you. I’m working things out for your good as you love me, trust me and walk in the calling I have set for you.
